What are the minimum qualifications to become a 3@1 franchisee?

3@1’s broad offering and personal support offered by the franchisor team appeal to franchisees from all walks of life, from ex-farmers to recent graduates, corporate players and housewives.

3@1 is looking for innovative thinkers, young and older, with entrepreneurial drive to join its thriving network. Retail and/or management experience will be advantageous, but is not critical. An outgoing personality and a desire to support and service business owners and consumers are key. Most of all an applicant must enjoy building relationships with customers.

How much does a franchise cost?

We currently offer three different store options being:
Standard Store: 50m² – 80m², Full store set-up from R695K ex Vat*
Express Store: 30m² – 45m² Plus Full store set-up from R595K ex Vat*
Kiosk: 15m² – 25m² Plus Full store set-up from R425K ex Vat*

*These amounts exclude your landlords deposit (+- R50 000) and your working capital (+-R120 000).

How much are royalties and advertising contributions?

Initial royalty R2750 ex. VAT or 3% whichever is the greater. Monthly advertising vetting fee of R385 ex. VAT. Social media advertising fee is applicable. Head Office provides a wide variety and constantly updated advertising material/posters/emailers etc. and new tools to help you to grow your business.

What about location? Do I have to find the location on my own?

3@1 Business Centre franchise is a full turnkey offering. Franchisees enjoy the support of the head office team every step of the way; from site selection to securing the lease, then through the planning phase to store set-up, training and the eventual store opening.  This may take between 6 weeks to 3 months.

How flexible is 3@1 with respect to operation of the business and the services and products offered?

Will I need employees? If so, how many?

Introductory training for new franchisees must be completed in our training for approximately one week and takes place in an existing outlet before store opening. The training incorporates an overview of the 3@1 business model, marketing and advertising, store operations, merchandising, customer service and management techniques as well as inventory, cost accounting and general business procedures. After the store opening the franchise team spends a further five to seven days in-store with the franchisee to ensure they and their staff are proficient and comfortable.

What are the hours of operation?

This depends on the shopping centre that your store is located in. Neighbourhood and line centres –  5,5 days a week and in Larger and regional malls shopping centres could be expected to trade 7 days a week with extended hours.

How long does it take to open my 3@1 Franchise?

Once a lease agreement and franchise agreement is signed, it usually takes approximately 30 days to take on the site and 60 days to start to trade. This depends largely on sourcing and securing a site. In the case of a newly constructed shopping centre, the timeframe is often longer.

How can I get a copy of 3@1 Franchise Disclosure Document?

Once you have a completed application form and submitted it with your CV we can begin franchise evaluation process. From there we set a time for a contact interview before we offer you a copy of the disclosure document.
